Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    Holy Bible Pr. 3:5-6 KJV

A poor widow was in a fix, so she decided to trust God with all her heart, and gave Him everything she had. Did He notice? Assuredly: He was right there In Person. (And He’s right there with you now.)

He was so thrilled by the widow’s offering that He used her as an example of a whole-hearted believer.

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

    Luke 21: 1-4 KJV

She loved God so much, she gave all she had to give, and trusted Him to provide for her. Jesus saw her heart. But Christ’s heart-monitor works differently from most. God measures our giving, not by the size of the gift, but by how much we keep back for ourselves.

This is true not just in finance, but also in love; faith, trust, loyalty, effort, and so on. When you are whole-hearted, Jesus is thrilled, and will make sure you lack no good thing. But a lukewarm, half-hearted believer will be dismayed.

Christ was asked which is the greatest commandment:

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

    Mtt. 22:37 KJV

    Wholehearted love for God.

Are you dismayed in your walk with God? Then follow this lady’s example and trust God with all your heart. This dear woman gave two small copper coins, whereas the Pharisees dropped in $100 notes from a great height.

But her tiny offering was more precious to Christ.

    Why?

Because it showed she trusted God 100%.

He put her in the Greatest Book of all time for that one action.

She’s in the Glory now, rejoicing because God met her according to her faith in Him.

Don’t tell me she went hungry after that. Don’t you dare think that Christ would let a believer down. No!

(Please allow me a little godly imagination in describing the sequel will you?)

The lonely widow went home to discover God had sent her A Super-Supreme Pizza (without ham) plus double toppings, delivered by an angel from Heaven. And instead of squatting on a dusty earthen floor as usual, the food was placed on a beautiful wooden-table, hand-made by the Carpenter from Nazareth.

There’s a gentle knock at her door. Who can it be? Nobody ever visited the widow. She had nothing to give, nothing to borrow, nothing anyone wanted. But she had something Jesus wanted. Her love, her fellowship, her heart.

Oh, Halleluia! When you have nothing to give anyone because you’ve given your all to Christ, you are going to get what the widow got.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

    Rev. 3:19-20 KJV

Opening the door she was greeted by a stranger, the smiling face of the Lord Jesus Christ carrying two wooden stools.

“Hello Daughter, I was wondering if y’could use these stools I made for you?”

“Why yes that’s just what I need for the new table God sent me. Praise the Lord! Won’t you stay and share some Kosher Pizza with me? There’s far more than I can eat.”

“I hoped you’d say that Daughter, this preaching sure gives a man an appetite.”

“I thought I’d seen your face before, yes, you were preaching in the Temple today. You know, I’m at my wit’s end; nobody cares about me, and I have nothing to live on. I was so embarrassed at the offering time. Do you know, all I had to give was two mites. I do hope God won’t be angry for asking Him to send help.”

Jesus cupped the widow under her chin, lifted her head, loved her, and smiled.

No-one had ever looked into her eyes the way He did. Her heart dissolved in her bosom. Instantly she understood.

“Why; you are… you must be… Oh, my Lord, and my God!

What will you receive when you begin to trust in Christ wholeheartedly?

You’ll get a visit from Almighty God, and He will provide for all your needs.

Now, c’mon you dear struggling ones. You facing a crisis, you in a hopeless mess. You with an ‘incurable’ disease. You up against some financial road-block. You experiencing relationship difficulties. Whatever it is, however dark your midnight hour.

Look up, look up. Your Redeemer lives!

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Call to Him. Trust in Him, Obey Him. With all your heart, and He’ll fix the whole thing, and send you rejoicing on your way. He will not let you be confounded or dismayed.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him (Jesus) shall not be confounded.

Holy Bible, Pr. 3:5-6 and 1 Pe. 2:6 KJV
