Today Carnivores Kill and Consume Prey Animals
But What About Before The Fall?
As a zoologist and veterinarian, this topic has intrigued me ever since I was saved in January 1988.
The instant I received Christ as my LORD, I knew in my heart that evolutionary “science” was utterly bogus, and what Father has written for us in the Holy Bible is the absolute truth.
I’ve never struggled with this, as some do, who compromise God’s word and fall into Satan’s snares. The revelation was instant, by the grace of God through trusting in His Living Word: The LORD Jesus Christ. (Have you done that yet?)
From the first day, I began sharing the Gospel with anybody who’d listen. It was so wonderful to me, I simply wanted everyone to have the Gift of Eternal Life I’d just been given freely from God.
Father God has kept me focussed on the only reason believers remain on Earth: To share the love and message of The Living LORD Jesus Christ in the power of His Holy Spirit.
The Gospel has been my priority ever since; however I’m eager to ask the LORD face to Face exactly HOW He transformed vegetarian creatures into carnivores and omnivores.
How He transformed symbionts into parasites, and nectar-sipping insects into blood-sucking mosquitoes, and so on.
Meanwhile, to avoid being distracted from my purpose, I’m busy fulfilling His Great Commission until He Appears for us.
Where Everything Comes From
To know where we came from we embrace the perfect words of our Creator in the Holy Bible, Genesis 1:1-12 KJV;
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Good Means Divine Perfection
Three times in this first passage of the Holy Bible, God pronounces His handiwork good, meaning perfectly divine.
The herbs, trees, and grass could not die, because there was no death in God’s Creation.
They looked entirely different from how trees and plants look to us today.
A Jewish friend named Bernard, was brought to his knees before The LORD Jesus Christ.
He’d been an artful rogue and livestock thief. But after he surrendered to Christ’s Lordship he built a multi-million pound charity, evangelising in; Ukraine, Africa, and Europe. To draw this hard-hearted sinner to Himself Jesus showed him an open-vision of what a glorified tree looks like, and Bernard wept as he tried to tell me how exquisitely beautiful the tree was.
He glimpsed what trees in The Garden of Eden looked like.
God spoke to him, saying, “Follow me and I’ll glorify you too.”
Then I also wept, because He has.
Fish and Fowl Were Created On Day Five of Creation Week
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
Gen. 1:20-22 KJV
Like the plants created earlier, God’s Creation was good.
Those exact same fish, whales, and birds would still be alive today if Adam had not brought death to God’s Creation.
Contemplate that to see the immense cost of sin.
Land Animals Were Created On Day Six of Creation Week
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Gen. 1:24-25 KJV
Again, God confirmed His newly created creatures were good, perfectly divine, immortal, without death.
Finally, On Day Six, God Created Man
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Gen. 1:26-31 KJV
Notice, God said His Creation was very good, not merely good.
There was no imperfection anywhere, all was radiant with God’s Glory.
There was no sin, no death on Earth.
There never had been.
Every animal ate plants, fruits, and herbs, as did Adam and Eve.
There Were No Carnivores Before The Fall of Man
The creatures that the LORD transformed into flesh-eating canine, feline and ursine carnivores were created originally as entirely vegetarian.
The same was true of sea-creatures too. Whales consumed only phytoplankton, not fish, squid or krill. Polar Bears ate plants, not sea-lions. Seals and Walruses ate seaweed, not fish or flesh.
Perhaps now you see why this has to wait until Christ Returns… it’s quite a complicated matter!
In contrast, Christ’s message of Good News to everyone is simple.
What Good News?
The Good News of the good things Christ has already done for everyone.
Good news if you are a sinner, The LORD Jesus Christ has borne your sin, while you are still sinning.
Why?
So that when you repent from unbelief and believe on Him, your sin and guilt can be remitted, and your heavenly account will be made clean as snow instead of black as night.
So what?
Quit rejecting His redemption offered to you today, and accept Christ as LORD and Saviour.
The good news that God in The Flesh has not only borne your sin, guilt and punishment, but also took your diseases and sickness on Himself at Calvary.
Why?
So that as you believe on Him and follow in His steps you will be healed, set free from sickness and all Satan’s power.
So what?
So accept His redemption of both your spirit and your body and be totally healed inside and out.
The Good News that God has come from Heaven and fixed your sin problem once and for all.
Why?
Because you’re lost in sin and bound by demon power, unable to break free.
So what?
So repent from unbelief, the greatest sin of all; believe on Christ as LORD and Saviour, and you will know you are free forever, and will be welcomed into Heaven.
