The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
Ps. 1:11 KJV
What is Your Word Worth?
How good is your word?
There are people who cannot be trusted as far as you can throw them.
Born liars and deceivers, unwilling to change.
They say one thing, but mean another.
They promise with their lips, and immediately break their word in their heart.
You know people like that don’t you?
We count their words worthless, and their company dangerous.
Nonetheless, we share the love and Gospel of Christ, and ask the Lord to grant them repentance.
These are the ones we are to snatch from the flames, wary of becoming contaminated ourselves. Jude 1:22-23 KJV;
And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Then there are more noble souls, who do their utmost to keep their word to man and God.
They value their integrity, because without fidelity to their word, trust is broken with those they claim to love.
Keeping their word is important to the godly.
We count ourselves amongst them, don’t we?
Yet, we inevitably fall at some point.
Responding in shame, we quickly repent, and apologise to those hurt by our unfaithfulness; to our Heavenly Father first, to people second.
Repairing the damage done to people is often impossible, because mankind is far less forgiving than God
Mercifully, restoring fellowship with Father is easy.
Admitting and repenting of sin from our hearts, we confess it to Father, and He forgives us completely: The guilt is gone.
We walk with Him, as though the sin had never occurred.
I will have mercy, and not sacrifice
We are certain God has cleansed us because He has given us His word, 1 Jn. 1:6-9 KJV;
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
That is the power in the Blood of Jesus Christ.
God’s Word is His Covenant
What Almighty God’s word declares is Truth, and cannot be broken.
He has given us His word that if we repent, and ask forgiveness, He forgives us immediately and forever.
God cannot, and will not, break His word. (Jn. 10:35, Lk. 16:17, Rom. 3:4, Heb. 6:18)
Men break their word: God never does.
God’s word is His Covenant.
God never breaks His Covenant.
God Has Given Us His Word
God gave us His spoken word. “Thus saith the LORD” occurs over 400 times in the Bible.
God gave us His written word. Ps. 1:11, 2 Tim. 3:16-17 KJV;
The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
God gave us His Living Word made Flesh, Jn. 1:14 KJV;
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…
God’s Word is the most dependable thing in the cosmos; indeed, it is His Word that holds the cosmos together. Heb. 1:1-3 KJV;
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
The most trustworthy person you will ever encounter, in this life or the next, is the Word of God. Rev. 1:8, 22:13-14 KJV;
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Listen to Him: Trust Him, Do what He says, obey Him!
Instead of devising your own plan, and following your desires, get in step with God, and learn to follow His Plans for your life.
They are the ones He will bless, not yours.
