Q: The world is in turmoil over the spread of Coronavirus Covid-19, financial and stock markets are unusually volatile, major sports events have been cancelled, national economies are broken, and panic is in the air: Surely these are signs of the Last Days before Jesus comes. What do you think?
God’s Antidote to Social Conditioning
A: I believe what God has written for us in The Holy Bible, where He teaches that the Last Days began two thousand years ago when the Jews rejected and crucified their Messiah.
Everyone who has lived on Earth since then has been living in the Last Days, which were prophesied by the Jewish Patriarch, Jacob, on his death-bed, Gen. 49:1-2 KJV;
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
Jacob then blessed each of his children prophesying what would become of them, and their progeny, notably appointing Judah and Joseph to bring forth Israel’s Messiah.
Isaiah Saw God’s Coming Kingdom
The Prophet Isaiah also prophesied the Last Days, speaking of Christ’s Kingdom when God manifest in the Flesh: The LORD Jesus began to preach the Gospel message, which continues in our days; all nations here, refers to the Gentiles being engrafted into the place of the Jews, following their rejection and crucifixion of Christ, Isaiah 2:1-2 KJV;
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
The Holy Ghost repeats this Last Days prophecy in Micah 4:1-2 KJV;
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
The Latter Days
When you read of the Last Days, or latter days, in the Old Covenant, it refers to Christ’s ministry, which is being continued through His faithful followers today during this dispensation of God’s Grace.
To answer your question, yes, of course these days are the Last Days, as the Holy Ghost confirms through John, using the expression the last time, 1 Jn. 2:18-19 KJV;
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
False Believers & Cults
Their going out from the first disciples proves they were merely phonies pretending to be believers like many today, just as Adam and Eve, rejected the true word of God for Satan’s lies.
John preached against the heresies of Gnostics and Gnosticism, (who denied that Christ is Almighty God made Flesh) so they left true believers to set up a religious cult, as many others have since; Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the SDA, Ecumenical Movement, etc.
Preparation for The Man of Sin
The current events you mention, are the outworking of the demonic conditioning the Holy Ghost writes of; according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience, thus setting the stage for the unveiling of the antiChrist, and this activity is governed by the satanic spirits controlling; governments, leaders, and all sinners in the world, just as we once were, as the Holy Ghost reminds born again believers in Ephesians 2:1-3 KJV;
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
That’s why you find sinners are gripped with fear, glued to their news media feeding them Satan’s agitprop, instead of attending to the word of The LORD, and lovingly following Him.
Occupy till I come
Bible believers know that, because it is written (2 Tim. Ch. 3 for example), such turmoil must occur, but we refuse to be distracted from the only reason for remaining on this accursed creation, which is still groaning for its end. Rom. 8:21-22 KJV;
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
The only purpose for believers still being on Earth is to: Proclaim the Gospel of The LORD Jesus Christ until He comes.
In fact, He tarries because He is waiting for us to fulfil His word, Mtt. 24:14 KJV;
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
That is why real believers are busy taking the love and message of Christ to the ends of the Earth, and longing for His appearing.
That is a believing Christian’s priority during these tumultuous last days, and so we do not fuss, fret, or worry about what frightens the world, because The Greater One is on the throne of our hearts, leading, keeping, preserving, and anointing all that we do at His bidding, and in His Name.
Come LORD Jesus, you have made us ready!
