Shielded by Faith

No Fear

While the world quakes at the threat of HIV, cancer, Ebola virus, malaria, TB, SARS, coronavirus, ‘terrorists’, and now even trembles before chickens and ducks with Bird Flu, believers rest assured in the promise of God to protect them from every plague and deadly disease. Ps. 91:5-6 KJV;

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

God’s Medicine

When you understand your Blood-bought redemption, and believe in it, God’s word will be the only vaccination and protection you ever need.

If, like me, you live in the midst of death and disease, where, unless you boil your drinking water it can kill you, God’s precious promises become life itself.

By faith, redemption transforms from a doctrine, into a vital continuing reality, without which you’d return prematurely to the dust of the Earth.

Power, Righteousness, and Protection

The key is faith, real faith in what God says.

Remember Sarah doubted, laughed, then lied, and disgraced herself (Gen. 18:10-15), whereas Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. (See Ro. Ch. 4)

The same word came to both: one believed it, the other questioned it.

This helps us understand so much doesn’t it?

Dead in Days

A few months after I was saved in 1988 a young Christian woman went to Africa as a missionary, yet was killed in days. She wasn’t eaten by cannibals after preaching Christ to them, but hit by a car in a silly accident as she stood by the road.

I thought, ‘How can this be? Something’s not right. God didn’t send her to Africa to be run over within a week, so what went wrong?’

Blind Leading the Blind

Soon I discovered that not everybody who claims to be a Christian is a Christian. Many belong to cults like the Catholics, JWs, ICC, SDA, and Mormons.

Swathes of others are nominal ‘Christians’, mere churchgoers. Christian in name, but not in heart: Unsaved, and doomed. They call themselves Christian because they are told that is what they are, or they occasionally mouth, and mentally assent to, the Nicene Creed. They have never been born again.

Lost Missionaries

A few months later, God sent me as a missionary to Asia, and there I promptly came across unsaved missionaries!

I was stunned to discover lost souls preaching like John and Charles Wesley were before they met Peter Böhler.

There’s plenty stuck in a religious system who have never tasted salvation, and haven’t a clue what the Gospel of Christ is. Their message consists of ecumenism, and the brotherhood of man nonsense; anything but the Truth.

It then became obvious why the ‘Christian’ woman was killed by Satan so quickly: She was not shielded by faith. Probably unsaved, or perhaps she was a Christian who didn’t understand how faith works: She hadn’t taken up her shield. Eph. 6:16 KJV ;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Don’t make that mistake, learn how faith works…
