    Hear God’s Voice

    To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

    Psalm 95:7b-8 KJV

    To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

    Heb. 3:7b-8 KJV

    To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

    Heb. 4:7b KJV

    Are You Listening to God?

    When God says a thing once, it is important; when He repeats something three times, you can be certain it is a matter of Life and Death, and we ignore Him to our eternal peril.

    The first clause of these scriptures; To day if ye will hear his voice establishes the Bible fact that God is speaking to you today, and that it rests entirely with you whether you listen to His Voice, or ignore your Loving Creator.

    Fire and Rain

    God’s anointed Prophet Elijah was so fearless in obeying the LORD, that God sent him to rebuke the King of Israel to his face.

    Then Elijah instructed King Ahab to assemble his prophets of Baal before all Israel, for a showdown on Mount Carmel.

    You know the outcome; The LORD demonstrated His overwhelming mastery of Satan through Elijah’s faithful obedience. Read 1 Kings 18 and rejoice.

    Feet of Clay

    The following chapter, 1 Kings 19, records that when King Ahab informed wicked Queen Jezebel what Elijah had done, she sent word that she’d have the Prophet’s head off by the morrow.

    Elijah’s resolve failed, he fled, asked God to take his life, and secreted himself in a cave on Mount Horeb in Sinai.

    Quite simply, he’d blown it, failed his own expectations, and so heart-broken Elijah prayed;

    It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

    We see ourselves in the Prophet of Fire’s prayer, don’t we?

    If not, prepare for your feet of clay to be smashed.

    Contemplate this; Elijah knew what it was to pray down Fire from God in full view of men.

    When he asked for a drought, the LORD shut off all rain in Israel until Elijah prayed three and a half years later.

    Therefore, when righteous Elijah asked Almighty God to take his life, you can be sure he was expecting an instant conclusion to his earthly pilgrimage.

    Tornado, Earthquake and Fire

    Now read in 1 Kings 19:11-12 the sublime passage, how the LORD revealed Himself.

    And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD.

    And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD;

    but the LORD was not in the wind:

    and after the wind an earthquake;

    but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

    And after the earthquake a fire;

    but the LORD was not in the fire:

    and after the fire a still small voice.

    Almighty as a Lamb

    The God who holds the Cosmos in His Hand; Who appeared to the Exodus, at Sinai, in a manner so terrifying they could not bear it (Heb. 12:18-21), answered His bruised reed, His smoking flax, Elijah, in a still small Voice.

    That’s God, that’s The LORD Jesus Christ, that’s the Voice of the Holy Ghost.

    To rebellious hard-hearted sinners, he’s fire, brimstone, and mountain shattering tempest, but to His children He speaks tenderly, gentle as a snowflake, in a still small Voice. Heb. 3:7b-8 KJV;

    To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

    His Sheep Hear The Shepherd

    Our Shepherd said of Himself in Jn. 10:3-4 KJV;

    To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

    If you are one of His sheep, Jesus says you know His Voice.

    So His obedient children respond; Yes LORD! Today I will hear your Voice, maintaining a believing tender heart to your Spirit in me.

    It is vital for new Christians to learn to listen to the Lord in their daily walk.

    He guides us softly by His Spirit in our spirits.
