First read part 1: Wash Me Throughly

    Psalms 51:1-4 KJV

(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.)

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

We saw in Wash Me Throughly that modern ‘bibles’ mistranslate the word as thoroughly.

The scriptural use of the word throughly is far from the same as thoroughly, as a careful analysis in the Holy Ghost reveals.

What did you notice in the eleven instances of the use of the word throughly in the Holy Bible (KJV), compared with the two uses of the word thoroughly?

There are strong hints in the preceding article for those with ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to disciples.

    The clearest explanation I can give you is seen in this text;

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

    Psalms 51:2 KJV

The Psalmist King had been exposed in his sin by the Prophet Nathan (2 Sam. Ch.12)

Thank God for bold Nathans who fear God more than they fear a king!

Oh how we need believers who are so bold they will confront hypocrites, and do it in tender-hearted love and humility.

David responded perfectly to the word of the LORD delivered by Nathan.

He took it to heart, admitted his guilt with immediate sincere contrition and repentance.

    Now Hear This:

David was an immensely rich and fit young man living in a palace, with a nation at his beck and call.

He was not a crippled beggar squatting on the roadside.

He was well able to wash, and clothe himself in garments resplendent with jewels.

It would be easy for him to scrub himself thoroughly clean, anoint himself with Frankincense and Myrrh, and don spotless new garments made for a monarch.

As the beloved heroic King, David could even instruct servants eager to assist him in washing himself, couldn’t he?

He would then be thoroughly washed, cleansed, and radiantly attired.

But David was a man of God, and knew in himself that whatever he did, or had done to him by people, it could never wash him throughly of his sin.

Only His Maker could wash him throughly

Almighty God alone can wash you here and now throughly of all your sin.

No mere man or woman can remove your guilt, and cleanse you of unrighteousness.

Sinners need infinitely more than external washing of their bodies: They need a new heart.

When the body is washed, the heart remains deceitful above all things (Jer. 17:9), and can’t be changed by outward cleansing.

The heart of sinners cannot be; washed, cleansed, patched up, or repaired.

A sinner’s heart is utterly irreparable.

    That is why God inspired Ezekiel to prophesy a new thing was coming, Eze. 36:24-27 KJV;

For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

This glorious prophecy was fulfilled in the born again experience, which came after The LORD Jesus Christ instituted the New Covenant.

    Christ taught Nicodemus, and us, Jn 3:1-7 KJV;

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Sinners need a heart-transplant, outward washing never removes the sinful nature of the human heart.

Washing a sinful heart can’t change its nature: God must give sinners a brand new heart with His Spirit ruling inside.

Only then is a person throughly washed

From this you can discern that throughly refers to being transformed from the inside, from the very core of a person’s being.

Outward washing thoroughly can never do that, can it?

Now you see the difference in meaning. Praise God!

The born again experience wasn’t available to David in this life: It is a New Covenant blessing and Christ had not yet instituted the New Covenant.

The best David could achieve was calling on the LORD to wash his guilt from his heart throughly, which He mercifully did, but David was not born again until after Christ arose from the dead.

Throughly here means that which is done by God to man, from the inside outwards.

In contrast; thoroughly refers to what is done to man from the outside.

    Salvation : Not Religion

Now you perceive the significance of the word throughly to you and me.

Outward rituals, ceremonies, and adopted beliefs, or philosophies can never change the heart of sinners. God alone, by the Holy Ghost, through the Faith of Christ can do that.

Halleluia for the New Birth, New Life from Heaven, The Spirit of God in Christ… now resident in each person who repents and believes on Him in their heart.

Have you had this divine experience?

Make sure you have been throughly born of God.

And when you have, be sure to use a Holy Bible, The KJV in English, not a thoroughly corrupt modern ‘bible’.
