Jesus brings a sword not peace

Q: All my life I have been taught that Jesus is loving and compassionate, yet what does Matthew 10:34-36 KJV mean where He says:

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

A: He is indeed loving and compassionate, but He is also absolute Truth.

When a person trusts in Him they stand up for the Truth and represent Him.

They have been made righteous new creations in Christ, sealed and anointed by His Spirit within. Ro. 3:22, 2 Co. 5:17, Eph. 4:30, 1 Jn. 2:27.

This marks them out as different from sinners, and the world disdains and hates them just as Christ warned His followers, Jn. 15:18-21.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

That is how, and why, He brings a sword into homes and families, as every Christian will know from personal experience.

Often a Christian’s worst enemies are unsaved family members.

Christ’s sword is of course His word.

The only weapon a believer ever needs, or carries, is the word of God. Eph. 6:17.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

This presents the Christian with the perfect opportunity to show the reality of the Living Christ inside, and glorify God.

Enemies mock, gnash their teeth, attack, but ultimately each one will bend the knee before Christ, either here on Earth, and be saved, or at their Judgment, and be cast into Hell.

So don’t be dismayed when you experience this, rejoice and revel in your office as a child of God holding out the two-edged Sword: The word of God.

Who was The Voice in the Garden of Eden?

Q: Was the Voice that spoke to Adam and Eve, The Word (Jesus), The Spirit of God, or The Father? James

A: The Hebrew word use in Genesis 3:8 for the source of the Voice is Jehovah Elohiym, meaning Almighty God, because The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all speak with One Voice. When you hear Jesus you are listening to the Holy Spirit, and to Father. (Mtt. 10:20, Jn. 14:8-11) The LORD Jesus Christ is Almighty God in The Flesh. (Rev. 1:8)

If you come across a group who want to split hairs over this, its probably a time-wasting cult such as the UPC. Avoid them.

    Sin & Sickness

Q: My father died of Leukaemia, aged thirty-two. He claimed to be born again. Since he died from a disease, does the word of God say he is going to Hell? Wendy

A: No, if he was truly born again, then he is in Heaven now. 2 Co. 5:8-9.

All disease ultimately has its origin and source in Satan and The Fall. Gen. 1:31, Ac. 10:38.

Christians who fail to understand and embrace their redemption may fall ill, and die of disease, but that is never God’s Plan for their lives.

That can arise through false teaching and ignorance of the Power in the Blood of Jesus and what He’s done for us.

Christians who rebel and choose to walk in darkness instead of the Light also open themselves up to demonic oppression and disease. Jn. 10:10, 1 Pe. 2:24, 1 Pe. 5:8-9, 1 Jn. 1:5-10, 3 Jn. 2.

The best book on Healing was written by Dr. T.L. Osborn in 1951, it is still the essential classic on Biblical healing. Scriptural truths on salvation and healing are presented in a way that builds faith as you read. Thousands have received their miracle as they read this book.
