Suffer Little Children

    Open your heart to God’s Spirit as you read, Mk. 10:13-16 KJV;

    And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

    Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

    And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

    Halleluia for the tenderness of Christ!

    We too would have exasperated Him by pushing the kiddies to the sidelines. The disciples learned from this rebuke, and the Holy Ghost has recorded the incident in three Gospels so we also take it to heart.

    The point the LORD makes is that; of such is the kingdom of God, (Matthew puts it; of such is the kingdom of heaven).

    Note, not; for such…, not, in such…, not, such is of… but; for of such is the kingdom of God.

    If you limit yourself to a modern-mangled ‘Bible’ version you’ll miss this.

    Praise God for the fidelity of the KJV, through which God is able to speak clearly to our hearts.

    Hear it again;

    Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

    What is God saying to us?

    We are not to hinder young people from coming to Him, that thought is foremost, but there’s further revelation in; of such is.

    God is telling us that toddlers possess several innate qualities of His kingdom.

    They are, in the noblest sense; naive, innocent, trusting, unsuspecting, frank, open, honest, guileless, forthright, and genuine.

    All babies are born that way, despite their parents’ fallen nature inherited from Adam and Eve. Toddlers are sinners to the core, but God in His grace doesn’t count that against them, until they reach the Age of Accountability.

    They then lose their aura of innocence, and develop the likeness of mankind, with the inevitable decline into sin that entails, Rom. 7:9 KJV;

    For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

    Therefore, it is written, Jn. 3:3 KJV;

    Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

    How long was it until you heard the Gospel, were pricked of heart, became weary of sin, threw yourself on Christ’s mercy, and were born again?

    I kept Him waiting until I was 34 years old: I hope you were wiser.

    But back to our text;

    Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

    The Lord next reveals a glimpse of what was coming under the New Covenant.

    Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

    Oh Glory! Don’t you love His directness?

    We know where we are with Jesus: He doesn’t leave us dangling in doubt.

    We know who we are, what we have in Him, and what we are to do.

    Are you in the kingdom of God?

    If not, keep reading and you’ll get there today.

    To be born again, and enter into the kingdom of God, you simply must do as Jesus said, and receive Him like a little child, or you will never make it, ever.

    You may be old, on your deathbed, about to expire, and face Judgment.

    Are you ready to give account of your life to Almighty God? Rom. 14:11-12 KJV;

    For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

    So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

    Are you ready to justify, to Him upon the Throne of Heaven, every word you ever uttered? Mtt. 12:36-37 KJV;

    But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

    For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

    That is Jesus telling us that our words, in this life, will either justify us, or condemn us forever.

    God judges us righteously based on the evidence of what we say and do.

    Be careful what words you utter.

    Has everything you ever said, been true in God’s sight?

    Has everything you’ve ever done been right in God’s sight?

    There’s only One Man who can truthfully answer ‘yes’ to both those statements: The LORD Jesus Christ, Gal. 1:4-5 KJV;

    Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

    Each of us needs to be saved, born of God.

    He paid the price for you, once and for all.

    Get down from your pedestal of pride, bend your knees before the LORD of Heaven and Earth, who bled and died to clear your sin-debt once and for all.

    Receive the kingdom of God as a little child, and enter in.

    Then Jesus will do for you as He did for those little ones;

    And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

    Here’s an excellent way to begin your morning prayer-time devotions. You’ll walk closer to God as you worship with Smith Wigglesworth each day.

    Mums and Dads, cover your progeny from the womb with the Word of God, and teach them about Him;
