Let Us Walk in The Spirit
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-25 KJV
Do You Have an If?
The same Holy Ghost who wrote, If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit, Gal. 5:25, confirms in Romans 8:9 that believers ARE in the Spirit, affirming that the Spirit of God does indeed live in every born again believer’s heart. Here it is, Rom. 8:8-10 KJV;
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
You’re Either In or Out
Notice the Holy Spirit states two divine facts here;
- Real Christians have the Spirit of Christ living in them, unbelievers do not.
- Because the Spirit lives in the believer, they are no longer in the flesh, but in the Spirit all the time.
So the sum of Gal. 5:25 and Rom. 8:9 makes the point that it is the honour of every Christian to walk in step with the Holy Spirit who dwells in them, and thereby overcome the lusts of our fallen Adamic nature.
Following your flesh leads to sin, and insidious corruption, whereas walking in the Spirit not only glorifies God, but also blesses the believer with the fruits of godliness. Gal. 5:22-25 KJV;
How to Remove Your If
Christians can therefore say, Since we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
I personally walked in the flesh for 34 years, and thank The LORD He rescued me, and Lifted me into Christ Jesus, when I was born again at 3:30pm. on a Saturday afternoon, the sixteenth day of January 1988, whilst backpacking around New Zealand.
Do you know when and where you were born of God?
Frankly, in His place, I’d certainly have destroyed my flesh, frazzled it to a sizzling pulp by a thunderbolt from His Finger. And would have sent my sin-sodden spirit into the Lake of Fire, without a thought, like blowing dust from an ash-tray.
But that isn’t God’s Way, is it?
He loves and takes sinners as they are, draws them to believe, and makes them righteous saints of God By Trusting in His Living Word: The LORD Jesus Christ.
God does that because He needs the believer’s flesh, so He can once again walk on Earth, bringing His lost creatures to repentance and faith.
God is Spirit: So He needs the believer’s body to continue Jesus’ ministry on Earth.
Will You Let Him?
He loved people as they were, despite their sins, and proclaimed the absolute truth of God.
He healed all who came to Him, including; lepers, the blind, deaf, dumb, cripples, and the paralysed. He forgave sins, cast out demons, raised the dead, and rattled the religious crowd.
Does that interest you?
Isn’t that what your world is crying out for?
If you’re still in your sins, walking after your flesh, doing what your fallen nature desires, please don’t stop reading because I’ve some very good news for you.
Born Shackled to Sin
What sinners call freedom is actually bondage to the sin-nature we inherited from our first parents, Adam and Eve, with inevitable heartache to follow, and eternal condemnation after we heave a final weary breath.
Sin’s a mug’s game: Don’t be a mug; God has something infinitely better, and He wants you to receive it now.
Words of Spirit and Life
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Jn. 6:63 KJV
He calls it eternal life, everlasting life in the kingdom of Heaven.
Sinners, are clueless what real life is: They think its doing exciting things, taking risks, having fun, and partying.
They say, Thank God it’s Friday, let’s live it up! and welcome the weekend as an escape from the drudgery of their pointless weekdays. Their brief respite of hedonism is followed by hangover Monday back on their treadmill longing for Friday.
The Love Walk
Real life is walking in love with The Living Word of God your Creator, who is Spirit and Life.
You switch from the natural realm, to experiencing the Heavenly spiritual glory here on Earth.
Your human spirit is made alive to God, you begin to recognize His gentle voice leading you in righteousness, peace, faith, and love.
Christ In You
You’re in communication with your Creator, and He is perfect truth.
His love overwhelms your heart, accompanied by God’s peace that passes understanding in your heart whatever situation you face.
Your faith in Him, and His words, puts you over every obstacle the world throws at you.
You realize how precious you are to your Creator, how wonderful it is to be set free of compulsions to sin, and bad habits.
All Things Become New
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Cor. 5:16-17 KJV
It’s far more than turning a new leaf, or renovation; you’re made a brand new person inside, you’ve become complete because you have Christ in you as LORD.
You desire to please Him, and respond to His love for you by expressing His love for everyone around you.
The written words of God come alive as you ponder them, it’s called revelation, they make sense, and resonate perfectly in your heart, thrilling your innermost being.
So you do what they say, and reap the benefit of them, John 1:1-4 KJV;
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
You have a light-bulb-moment.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men, Boy do you comprehend that now!
That’s what’s been in my heart ever since I turned to Christ, and believed in Him as my LORD.
You reach verse 14, and revelation shines in your spirit, Jn. 1:14 KJV;
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ is God in The Flesh
You ask yourself why you never saw it before.
Will you believe on Christ as your LORD, and begin to live and walk in His Holy Sprit?
There will be no going back to walking in the flesh.
I think you’ll like it.
