    Part One of Two

    Two Dry Stumps

    The LORD lists, in the generations of Noah’s sons, a significant fact, with a powerful lesson for every Christian on Earth today, Gen. 11:29-30 KJV;

    And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

    But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

    Sing Thou That Didst Not Bear

    God was working on His plan to use their infertile marriage to establish numerous earthly tribes and kingdoms, and one eternal spiritual Kingdom; as He prophesied through Isaiah 54:1 KJV;

    Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

    The Promised Children

    More, He says more, and Christians have experienced what He was prophesying about, for as the Holy Ghost declares under the New Covenant, we are those very children of Promise, Gal. 4:26-28 KJV;

    But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

    Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

    Abram and Sarai faithfully followed The LORD Almighty all their adult lives.

    A remarkable couple, worthy of great honour. Let’s assimilate the perspective.

    Get Thee Out of Thy Country

    In obedience to the call of God they left the security of home and hearth, renounced their possessions, and humbly dwelt in tents, wherever The Spirit of God led them.

    Oh how such a testimony thrills Father’s heart: You can do that too. Just be wholehearted, not half-hearted: Humbly obey your LORD with all your heart, and then you will see His Promises made perfect in your life. Amen.

    Our pioneers were not Christian, they couldn’t be, for the Son of God had not yet been manifested in the Flesh, nor yet shed His Blood for our sins.

    Can you see what a great day we live in?

    This precious couple were not Spirit-filled, for the Promise of The Spirit had neither yet been given, nor poured out.

    In our days He has poured out His Spirit so all flesh can be filled with God, instead of stumbling along in human strength.

    And the LORD appeared unto Abram

    These two were not under The New Covenant, nor The Old Covenant, for neither had yet been established. They followed the merest flicker of light they had. They had heard His Word.

    Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son

    They had a match: We have been given The Sun of Righteousness. Mal. 4:2-3 KJV;

    But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

    Are you walking on, treading down snakes and scorpions by the power of Jesus’ Name? (Luke 10:19)

    Abram and Sarai were not righteous, but sinners by nature, just like me and you before we were born of God, made righteous by faith, and lifted into Christ Jesus.

    None is Good, Save One, That is, God

    Let’s rejoice with the Psalmist, Ps. 107:1-3 KJV;

    O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

    Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

    Thank you Father for your goodness, and everlasting mercy. You saw us born in sin and shame, and made us alive in Christ Jesus: Our precious Redeemer in whom we now live. Amen!

    The Faithful are Fruitful

    Sarai and Abram knew nothing of the spiritual blessings offered to us today, but they were prospered in material ways as they obeyed Almighty God.

    The Meek Shall Inherit

    You may have little materially, but Father wants you overflowing with the spiritual blessing He has made available to you today. It is the poor and meek whom He uses, not the fat and rich.

    However, they had no children.

    Yet, Almighty God had promised to bless all nations through them.

    They desperately wanted to reproduce, so desired offspring like their relatives, they tried for years to conceive progeny, but they were barren, childless, without heir, son or daughter.

    And well advanced in years.

    Sarai was barren, her womb was dead.
    Abram was infertile too.

    They were ready for God to bless. Are you?
