Listen Adam; There’s One Rule: Break It and You’re Dead!
Man’s downfall was caused by disobeying the LORD God’s only restriction placed upon the first man, Adam.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Holy Bible, Genesis 2:16-17 KJV
Blame Adam First: Not Eve
Tradition puts the responsibility for the Fall onto Eve because she was the first to break God’s words, but notice Eve was not even created when the command was given to Adam. The Man was alone on Earth when God said that to him.
Righteous Husbands Teach Wives
It was Adam’s responsibility to ensure his wife knew what God had commanded him, and as head of their marriage, to ensure she did what was right in God’s sight.
Man Had Never Sinned
They were both super intelligent human beings before The Fall, Adam was not a thick red-neck, and Eve was not a dumb-blonde.
They were made in the image of God: With His Spirit, His Soul, His Body form, and His character.
They also bore the perfect righteousness of God: There was no sin on Earth, there never had been.
By Man Came Death
The Fall of Man was the responsibility of Adam, not Eve. 1 Cor. 15:21-22 KJV;
For since BY MAN came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Adam Wimped Out
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband WITH HER; and he did eat.
Gen. 3:1-6 KJV
It’s frequently overlooked by theologians that the Holy Bible tells us Adam was right there with Eve when she was tempted by the Serpent, and Adam was as quiet as a church mouse. He uttered not one squeak in defiance of the lies he heard from the Serpent.
God instructed Adam to keep the garden, by which he meant, tend and protect it as a Paradise on Earth.
Adam let the deceiving Serpent into his domain, and allowed him to lie to his wife, and contradict what God told him!
The first husband was spineless.
Serpents in Your Home
Do you allow the Serpent into your domain?
How do you respond to the Serpent’s lies today?
What is The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
It was a real tree in Paradise, planted there by our Creator, as a marker of Man’s integrity. To see if he’d honour God’s words.
The tree bore desirable fruit, apparently tasty and nice to look at, but was forbidden to Man.
God warned clearly what would befall Adam if he disobeyed Him by eating of that fruit.
Adam allowed Eve to reach out and take the fruit, eat of it, then he also ate the forbidden fruit.
Instead of having greater wisdom, as the Serpent promised them: Spiritual death, sin, disease, and physical death were the consequences for them, and their descendants, including you and me.
Our first parents knew only good until they broke faith with God: They were perfectly holy, like God, and shared His Nature, His Life.
Deadly Knowledge
As they ate of the forbidden fruit they partook of evil for the first time.
The fruit of the knowledge of evil… is more evil and death.
It’s often said the Tree represents the fallen world: as Christians partake of our world’s fruit they fall from grace and fellowship with Father God because the world is ungodly by default.
The world was cursed because of Adam’s sin, along with every human born of woman, except One.
- As we consume the fruit of the world we depart from God in several ways.
- You follow the words of the world instead of following God’s word.
- You bear the consequences of knowing the world, in the emotional trauma and bruising you suffer, instead of knowing the peace and blessings enjoyed in fellowship with Father God.
- No longer walking in divine wisdom and health you suffer sickness, disease, and infirmity because of your intimacy and rapport with the world.
- Your language, thoughts, and behaviour change as you separate from God, and embrace the world’s knowledge.
- In Christ you have eternal Life, in the world you perish quickly, and die at 70 or 80 years old.
- The more your affinity is with the world: The less knowledge of good you retain.
- In God you enjoy perfect peace: In the world you endure fear and pain.
Christians exist in the fallen world, but are not of the world, we are of the kingdom of God.
Attend to Him, Fix your spiritual eyes on Christ, stop eating the knowledge (fruit) of the world.
Worldly Lusts Poison Life
Father describes it as being worldly. Titus 2:11-15 KJV;
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
The world appeals to the carnal lusts of our flesh.
Christ won’t deal with your flesh, or your worldly lusts, instead He offers you power to keep them under the control of your spirit: The Holy Spirit helps you do that.
He doesn’t do it for you: You do it with His help.
The Light of the Body is the Eye
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Mtt. 6:21-23 KJV
When the focus of your attention is the love of God for you, it becomes easy to keep the flesh in check. But if your attention is on the world, you’ll find yourself wandering away from the light of Christ in your heart. 1 Jn 2:15-16 KJV:
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Father leaves it up to His children what they focus on; the world, or the Lordship of The Living Word.
This is foreshadowed by the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Paradise of God.
Adam and Eve should have rejected its fruit and never have known evil at all.
Adam also ought to have cast the Serpent out of the Garden, and reminded Eve what the LORD had warned him.
Use Your God-given Authority Over Serpents
Likewise, Christians are to keep their Garden of God’s Presence, and not allow intrusions from the world, trying to distract you from walking in godliness and righteousness. Recall Christ’s response to Martha’s criticism of Mary.
- If earning a living is taking you away from intimacy with The LORD, then quit that job and seek the LORD what He wants you to do. He’ll give you something far better.
- If your home environment is strewn with media pumping worldliness into your eyes, ears, and bellies, then throw those demonic sources out, and ask Father’s forgiveness for neglecting Him.
- If your spouse is not as zealous for the things of God as you are, leave him or her to Father, and trust Him to draw them deeper into His arms: Your task is simply to love them exactly as He loves you. If you love them more, will they love you less?
- If your children are rebellious, loud, and unteachable, it’s your fault, not theirs. Repent and take responsibility for their spiritual welfare in addition to their physical needs.

Use the authority you have over the demons oppressing them, and discipline them with lovingkindness, as Father disciplines you. Show them what Christ is like, living in you, and shield them from the attacks of the Serpent slithering into your realm, your garden.
Above all, get your knowledge directly from Father, through His Spirit anointed word, and do what He tells you.
Christ’s yoke is easy, His burden is light, so don’t add knowledge of evil to it.
If Adam had kept that simple maxim, we’d all still be in Paradise on Earth.

Tip: The Holy Ghost has been poured out for believers to receive, and respond to His leading.
We are to pray always in the Spirit and understanding. (1 Cor. 14:15 KJV)
The more you pray in the spirit, the more sensitive you become to Father’s nudges, so rather than thinking about worldly things and problems, pray in tongues quietly to yourself, you’ll find it settles your mind, as your spirit talks with Father God.
