Are You Adopted?
Q: Is legal adoption also spiritually binding?
What I mean is; do all the blessings a child would normally receive from their biological Christian parents belong also to an adopted child? Elisa
A: Providing the new parents are genuine Christians, Yes Of Course! Read the spine-tingling first chapter of Ephesians to see your question answered, literally on every level: From the top down. Ask the LORD to open your eyes to see. Holy Bible, Ephesians 1:1-14 KJV;
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Embrace These Gospel Facts
- Paul had become an Apostle by the will of God. Father chose Saul of Tarsus to make a point by adopting him, and making him His own. Halleluia! Parents choose to become adopters, and choose which child to adopt.
- who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Hath is past tense. Every real believer is already blessed of God with everything that’s available in Christ. Shake the rafters!
- Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself. Almighty God set His Heart on you before you were even created, and He planned to adopt you to Himself through what Christ has accomplished for you. Selah!
- he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Believers are accepted in the unconditionally beloved. Praise God for His Mercy evermore! This seems too good to be true, but it is written, and we have the Holy Ghost resonating in our hearts… Only Believe!
- In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins… We have, we have, we have. On what basis? Through His Precious Blood. Our sins are gone, under Christ’s Precious Blood forever.
- according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself… It was His idea, it made Him happy to fulfil His plan to adopt believers as His own.
- he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In one all things in Christ: Unity with Father God in Christ. Perfect eternal fellowship, made by the will, authority, and power of Father God. That is the believer’s destiny.
- until the redemption of the purchased possession. Almighty God has already paid the purchase price for the world: His Son’s Life. Now He waits for believers to get the message of His eternal redemption to the lost, and to those yet to be born. There’s No Need to Wait for Your Redemption!
According To Your Faith
You need to understand that this works by living faith, it is not an automatic legal spiritual transfer.
Parental adopters must claim the child as theirs, and enforce their claim by faith.
Covered and Signposted
Sadly many Christian parents lose their own children to the Devil, simply because they don’t know how to claim their rights in Christ, or plead the Blood and use their faith to cover their unsaved kids.
Every parent needs to get in the Spirit and spiritually post a sign above their family in the spiritual realm. The Property of The LORD Jesus Christ: Do NOT Touch!
In the same way, believers become sick because they are ignorant of, and fail to claim, the blessing of Healing and Health through Christ.
You understand, I hope, that no child is a Christian “because its parents are Christian”.
Each individual child must be born again by responding to the Gospel after it passes the Age of Accountability.
No Second Generation Christians
Many people are deluded into calling themselves ‘Christian’ because they were raised in a Christian family, sang in the church choir, attended Sunday School etc.
I even have a dear Indian friend who assures me he will be accepted into Heaven because he attended a missionary school in India. He deploys that defence every time I share the true Gospel with him, even as he visits the Temple daily to worhip demons!
Please love such people, and set them straight when you meet them. They won’t like it, but in the end they will thank you.
Blessings of The Adopted
Even in the Old Testament we see this illustrated in the valiant example of Noah.
Were his ‘adopted’ daughters-in-law blessed along with his sons? Mightily, and that through Noah’s living faith.
They were not judged by The Flood, and their seed is preserved to this day.
Thank God for our ancestor Noah, who endured years of fierce mockery and ridicule, and obeyed the word of the Lord, when all around revelled in sin. One man, and God: What a Team.
