A 74 year-old Thai Buddhist Nun relates how The Lord Jesus Christ showed her the only way to true enlightenment, peace and happiness
People are basically the same world-wide. They commit the same sins, experience the same needs, and sense the same guilt. They suffer the same diseases, and instinctively search for the same peace, regardless of race, colour, sex or religious background. When anyone is really Born Again, they react with the same overwhelming satisfaction. The effect upon them is no different from what happened in Bible days.
A 74 year-old Buddhist Nun attended a Gospel Crusade in Thailand. She was put in a temple whilst a young girl, and had spent her whole life serving there.
Hearing the loudspeakers from the open-air crusade, she slipped away from the temple to listen. Concealing her Nun’s habit with cloth purchased on the way, she stood at the edge of the enormous crowd to avoid recognition.
Evangelist Dr. T.L. Osborn related the good news of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross for everyone. He quoted the New Testament, and explained how humanity had sinned, and become separated from God. But God loved and valued us so much He gave His Only Son for us.
This precious Nun grasped the fact that Jesus carried our sins, and our guilt, and the condemnation that we deserve when He died in our place.
After He was buried, He rose from the dead, and yearns to come into our lives to impart God’s peace, love, forgiveness, health, and abundant life.
Although so old, she had never heard these simple Gospel truths in her whole life. She later said through an interpreter:
“All my life, I searched for peace. The only thing I knew to do was work hard in the temple, and to serve the monks in every possible way.”
“I soon learned that each of us in the temple was searching for the same peace, but we were all unsatisfied. The others were as unhappy as I was. I often wondered if there was anything else that I could do to find peace. Many nights, when nobody could see me, I wept for hours in the darkness.”
“Now, in Jesus, I have finally discovered what I sought all of my life.”
“The first time I heard about God loving me, and sending His Son to die on the Cross for me, and how His Blood was shed for my sins, I felt something happening inside.”
“I wept, and believed in Jesus. I believed, even though I didn’t fully understand, and I knew that my life was being miraculously transformed. I repeated the prayer as the Evangelist directed, and oh what peace came when I asked Jesus into my life.”
“I threw away my religious robes because I was changed forever”.
“I’m so happy. The rest of my life I’ll tell others of my Saviour Jesus Christ.”
This dear woman returned to her own people, and began to tell of Jesus. Soon she was teaching groups about God’s love. Together, they have built a bamboo and thatch meeting place that now houses a thriving fellowship in her village.
You too can experience this New Birth, and discover true dignity, and real peace with God when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
Trust in Jesus Today
Ask Him to forgive all your sins, He will.
Ask Him to come into your heart, He will.
Ask Him to show you His unfailing love, He will!
