What do Born Again Christians Believe?
Born Again Christianity is not a denomination, movement, or sect.
To be born again is to become a Christian, the Holy Bible way to become a Christian:- The only way to become a Christian: Through personal choice to repent from unbelief and believe on the LORD Jesus Christ: Almighty God in the Flesh
Bible belief is of the heart, the spirit: Not the head.
Head-belief is mental assent, plain hypocrisy, and useless.
False “Christians”
Nominal Christians are people who call themselves Christian, but they are not Christian, because they’ve never been born again. They merely mentally assent to; Christ’s Lordship, a creed, or doctrine. They repeat rote prayers, and participate in religious services, rituals, rites, ceremonies, and sacraments.
This is false Christianity, a religious sham, through which nobody can be saved from sin, Judgment, and Hell.
The New Birth is Essential
That is why Jesus said to a very sincere religious man, Jn. 3:3,7 KJV;
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Here are ten basic scriptural doctrines and beliefs held by Born Again Christians (See endnote)
- The Absolute Authority of The Holy Bible: The sole and absolute authority for Christian doctrine and faith is the Holy Bible, the inerrant written word of God, rightly understood by revelation of the Holy Ghost directly to the believer. (Not re-interpreted by some religious body, organisation, or creed.) 2 Sam. 22:31, Prov. 30:5, Is. 40:8, Mtt. 4:4, Jn. 14:26, Rom. 10:17, 2 Tim. 3:16, 1 Pe. 1:23, Rev. 1:8,11, 22:13-14.
- God is a Trinity: Almighty God is one God in Three Persons: A Trinity of; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, each eternally existing without limit of; love, wisdom, glory, holiness, and power. Mt. 28:19, Jn. 14:26, 15:26, 2 Co. 13:14, 1 Pe 1:2, 1 Jn. 5:7.
- God The Creator: Almighty God created all things exactly as recorded in Genesis by His Word and Spirit around six thousand years ago. His Creation was perfect, without sin, death, sickness or dissent. Mankind was given dominion of the Earth. Gen. Ch. 1-2.
- Man’s Sin and Fall: The first two humans, Adam and Eve, sinned by choosing to ignore God’s word and disobeyed Him. They forfeited their right-standing with God, and were driven from His Presence. The Fall into sin brought a curse on God’s Creation resulting in spiritual and physical death, sickness, and every kind of evil. Gen. Ch. 1-2, Rom. 8:20-22.
- God has Provided Perfect Redemption in Christ:
- God became fully human in the Lord Jesus Christ, born miraculously of a virgin, and lived as a Man in perfect obedience to Almighty God, who confirmed His Word with many miracles and wonders. In order to provide redemption for mankind, God in the Flesh then gave up His sinless life, offering the only acceptable Sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world. Is. 7:14, Mt. 1:22-23, Jn. 1:1,14, Eph. 1:7, Heb. 10:9-10.
- Having paid for man’s sin in full, once and for all, He arose from the dead bodily, ascended to Heaven, and sealed the New Covenant of faith in His Blood. Mt. 26:28, Lk. 24:51, Heb. 10:12.
- Whosoever truly believes that Christ; is LORD God in the Flesh, paid for their sins, and rose again, is made a New Creature in Christ. They are born again; their sins are forgiven, their guilt removed, and the righteousness of God is imputed to them. They become children of God by heart faith in the LORD Jesus Christ. Rom. 3:22, 10:9-13, 2 Co. 5:17, 1 Jn. 3:1-2.
- The Holy Ghost dwells in them imparting eternal life. This spiritual transformation is wrought by God, not by man, the instant a person repents from unbelief, and believes in Christ Jesus, man’s Only Saviour. They become a member of Christ’s Body. Jn. 3:3,7, Ro. 12:5, 1 Jn. 2:27.
- The Five Solas: All Christian doctrine must be scripturally established by the Holy Bible. Redemption and salvation are due entirely to the grace and gift of God, not by works, sacraments, or any merit of the believer. We are saved by faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Jn. 6:29 KJV. This foundation is succinctly summarised in the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation: Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, Christ alone, and for the Glory of God alone. Jn. 3:14-18, 14:6, Eph. 2:8-9, 1 Tim. 2:5.
- Water Baptism: Soon after receiving Christ as Saviour, Born again believers obey Christ’s command to be baptised by full immersion in water as a public witness that they have been spiritually born again. Mtt. 28:19, Ac. 8:12, 36-38.
- Holy Ghost Baptism: Born again believers actively seek to receive the Baptism in the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) with the evidence of speaking in tongues. They also welcome the Gifts of the Holy Ghost, and expect signs, wonders and miracles to follow the preaching of the Gospel. Ac. Ch.1-2. 1 Co. Ch. 12.
- The Lord’s Supper: Born again believers regularly partake in the Lord’s Supper as an emblematic reminder that Christ’s Body was broken for them, and His Blood was shed for the remission of their sins. Lk. Ch. 22, 1 Co. Ch.11.
- The Rapture and Second Coming: Born again believers look forward to the Rapture followed by the Second Coming of Christ. Believers will be resurrected in glory and spend eternity in Heaven. Unbelievers will be spend eternity in Hell. 1 Co. 15:51-52, 1 Th. Ch. 4, Rev. 21:7-8, 22:14-15.
Note: Just as warned in the Bible, some lukewarm and immature Christians are slow to embrace; the Baptism in the Holy Ghost, the Gifts of the Holy Ghost, present-day miracles, or signs and wonders, and therefore fall far short of Biblical Christianity. Heb. 5:12-14 6:1-2.
