The Joy of Growing Old
Cue Chopin’s Berceuse Opus 57 and Concerto No. 1
A Centenarian, who died aged 120 years, wrote in old age, Psalms 90:8-10 KJV;
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Sobering words of Old Covenant truth from the Prophet Moses.
Praise God for the infinitely better New Covenant sealed with the Blood of the only Begotten Son of God, Heb. 8:6 KJV;
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Who Himself said, Jn. 5:24-25 KJV;
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Halleluia for the Living Word of God: The LORD Jesus Christ, who, by His grace opened my dead ears, poured in grace and truth, and made me live, even when I was spiritually dead in sin.
That is when our joy starts, and where it comes from: Christ in us!
Oh glory what a future we have, everlasting life, no condemnation to come, and already across the greatest chasm of all.
The valley of death has been bridged by Christ, He has brought us home to Father God.
We live in Him: He in us; and we know it by the Spirit He has given us, resonating inside our hearts forever.
Come into the secret place and worship Him you saints!
Whilst the world frets and fusses over; money, grey hairs, wrinkles, infirmity, disease, death and Judgment of sin, we know no such fear because Jesus is LORD!
Better yet, our Lord, who tenderly leads and cares for us, shepherding His flock to pasture by still waters; not only in this life, but for eternity in Glory.
As ever, full of grace and truth; He keeps us, His grace is sufficient to protect and nurture His children. We respond by loving obedience, enabled with His grace to believe and obey His word.
Such mercy melts our glacial hearts, the river flows, from His throne, through our lives, to the thirsty, and His purpose is fulfilled.
It is so: He has done it all… Halleluia!
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Zech. 4:6b KJV
We have the Hope of Glory: We have Him, and He has us.
We have Everlasting Life!
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1 Jn. 5:9-13 KJV
