The Things Which We Have Heard
Let us note the warning God gives us in Heb. 2:1 KJV;
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
We must keep at the forefront of our attention the full redemption of Christ, otherwise we risk letting slip the Gospel facts that God in the Flesh confirmed to us.
Better than Angels, Prophets, and The Law
Hebrews Chapter one emphasises how superior His word is than that of His angels, prophets, and the Law, perfect though they are.
Christ came from Father, delivered His Message in Person, then returned to sit at the right-Hand of Majesty in Heaven. From where He spelled-out the message of Redemption to us, through the Apostle Paul.
The first twelve disciples simply couldn’t take it, it was so wonderful. Jn. 16:12 KJV;
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
But Paul understood it first, and enunciated it to us.
Have you taken your full redemption to heart?
Let the understanding of your redemption sink in.
God’s ministry is even more significant than the ministry of His angels, or the Law.
We must pay attention to God’s word, and God’s Spirit above all things.
Did God Say?
Satan stirs up men to question God’s word, they publish modern Bible “translations” and paraphrases, that continually corrupt His word and meaning.
Relying on modern Bibles, and men, is a sure way to let slip the eternal facts we are to proclaim.
No! Instead we rely on the pure word of God, written in English in the KJV, and spoken to our hearts by the Holy Ghost, who lives within every real believer.
They are the reliable witnesses God has provided for us.
They are all we need.
God Said
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Heb 2:1-4 KJV.
Divine Validation and Warning
How shall we escape if we neglect, and let slip, the Gospel facts passed onto us by the LORD Himself?
God confirmed them by great miracles, signs, and wonders.
Modern scholars discard them for vain imaginings, heretical teachings, and phoney manuscripts.
My Words Are Life and Health
Under the Old Covenant believers were warned; Prov 4:20-27 KJV;
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
Froward: Perverse, contrary, self-willed.
Neglect God’s command to pay attention to His word, and you will become sick in body.
How much more ought New Covenant believers to fix their attention on the word of God, written in the KJV, and within their hearts?
So we pay full attention, and refuse to let slip the perfect Redemption won for us by Christ.
Satan’s Seeds of Doubt
A Christian friend of mine became a victim of Satan, by allowing the precious truths of the Gospel to fall from his attention.
First, he swapped the word of God, for the word of men; by using the Good News Bible. A very poor paraphrase of God’s word. Thus he committed to memory man’s seed, and let God’s Seed fall from his attention. He drifted from the Truth, and subconsciously embraced man’s doubt and unbelief.
Confronted in his ministry with sick and infirm people, he comforted them with man’s words of rationalised unbelief, instead of encouraging them to believe God’s word, and exhorting them to act on it, and be healed.
Inevitably, he became infirm himself, by following lifelong habit, and entrusting himself into the hands of unbelieving doctors, instead of trusting and obeying the word of the Living Almighty God.
Predictably, instead of curing his ailment, the medics made it worse, and finally crippled his body.
Why did this happen?
Answer: He let slip God’s word, ignored the warnings, and drifted from The Truth.
He’s a Christian minister.
So be warned; that can happen to you too. God will allow you to doubt if you so choose, but He exhorts you to believe His word, never to question it.
God Has Exalted His Word Above All
Surely He’s proven that His word is always true?
What more must He do to convince you?
He came from Heaven and showed us His Living Word in action.
God spoke from Heaven confirming Christ was God in the Flesh. Mk. 9:7 KJV;
And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
God confirmed His message with divine signs, wonders and miracles; even raising the dead in public view, Jn. 11:40-44 KJV;
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
His Word made Flesh submitted to death itself, but God raised Him from Hell, to prove there was no untruth in Him, and that our sin debt was paid in full, once and for all time. Rom. 4:22-25 KJV.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
God works with believers who proclaim His word today, confirming the message with signs, wonders, and miracles, just as in the Bible. Mk. 16:19-20 KJV;
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Which do you prefer?
God’s word proclaimed in Truth and power, and confirmed by Almighty God: Or man’s word, rejected by God, and devoid of His confirmation.
How to avoid slippage
- Study God’s word in English, the KJV, and discard all impostors.
- Repent of all sin, unbelief, mental assent, and false-teachings.
- Walk in holiness with the Living Christ. Talk with Him, listen to Him, and do what He instructs. He’s easy to get along with. Mtt. 11:28-30 KJV;
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Listen to the Holy Ghost in your heart and obey Him always. Confirming that what He says complies with the written word of God.
- Put God’s kingdom first in your life, and keep it there. Everything else is secondary, or simply not necessary. Do as you are told.
The KJV translators used 84% of Tyndale’s translation word for word. They and William Tyndale were God’s chosen and anointed translators.
He burned with passion to get the Truth into our hands, and Catholics murdered him for doing so. You owe it to yourself to study the life and work of William Tyndale: God’s Secretary and Outlaw.
