When Two Become One
…he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit… I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one.
1 Cor. 6:17, Jn. 17:22b KJV
Under the Power of Sin
The following gentle rebuke by the Holy Ghost is plainly warning against the physical sin of fornication.
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them.
Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Cor. 6:12-20 KJV
Every sinner who truly believes on Christ becomes born of God, instantly made a new righteous creature in Christ, and cannot continue in such sins, because they have become one with Almighty God in Christ The LORD.
This is the most precious experience this side of The Glory.
Unity With God
The main petition of Christ’s prayer in Gethsemane was; …that they may be one, as we are.
God made Flesh confirmed His supplication three more times;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one;
Now, with 1 Cor. 6:12-20 in mind, read His High Priestly prayer, Jn. 17:11-23 KJV;
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Seek the Lord to perceive the utter spiritual polarity of those two passages.
The Holy Ghost chastised the first Corinthian believers for tolerating sexual immorality in their midst.
Ye Are Washed
Living in an idolatrous, pagan society, many Corinthian believers had been fornicators, sodomites, and perverts, before they repented and believed on Christ.
Corinth was renowned for idolatry and sexual sin, like many nations today, including yours.
It was therefore necessary to emphasise to them, the primacy of quitting sin of every kind once a person has been washed in The Blood, 1 Cor. 6:11 KJV;
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
That’s why no genuine believer can enjoy fellowship with Christ, and intimacy with an harlot, they are incompatible for a child of God.
Christians are set free from sin in order that we walk with God in spirit and truth, in sincere reverence and holiness.
This is what is spoken of in First John 3:6 and 1 Jn. 3:9
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
1 Jn. 3:6-10 KJV
Sinneth not… doth not commit sin…. he cannot sin… Oh Halleluia how Father’s words resonate in our hearts!
These are not legalistic commands, but rather, living facts of life familiar to each obedient child of God.
“Sin? No we refuse to rebel against Father!”
“Commit sin? No we cannot! How could we after He has shown infinite mercy in saving us?”
Spiritual Adultery
Sexual sin is idolatry, spiritual adultery, and it is no coincidence the Holy Ghost uses the same vivid language, in rebuking the first believers, as He uses in warning Christians today of the Mother of harlots in Revelation chapter 17:3-5 KJV;
So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Who precisely this refers to, was a mystery when the pagan Babylonian Empire ruled the known world, but since the Sixteenth century, the Reformers made plain God’s Judgment upon the Roman Catholic Mother of harlots, as prophesied in Revelation 17.
Study how William Tyndale, the man who translated your precious New Testament, denounced Satan’s counterfeit church, and was burned alive by Catholics for bringing you God’s written word in English.
John Foxe devoted his life to preserving eye-witness accounts of Roman Catholic persecution of Bible believing Christians.
To be one with Almighty God in Christ you must come out of Catholicism renouncing all idolatry and sin.
Our Creator is a Holy God, He cannot fellowship with sinners, any more than sinners can walk with a Holy God.
To be one with God in Christ you must repent and believe on Christ as your LORD, and follow through, proving your repentance, by the wholehearted obedience that always accompanies love for God.
Only then will you be joined with Him in God: One in Him.
It is what you were created for
AMEN!
