    I Can’t Stop Sinning

    Q: What is the reason I keep falling into sin and backslide? I don’t know why. Ruth

    A: You will have to go to Christ yourself in earnest, sincere, prayer, and ask Him the reason for your fickle walk.

    Below are some common reasons that may help you.

    Christians Quit Sinning

    The normal Christian walk is a life of power and victory over; temptation, sin, sickness, and Satan. It is not a recurring cycle of; trying, failing, then repenting, but giving in to temptation to sin yet again. God says, 1 Jn. 5:18 KJV;

    We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

    Meditate prayerfully on the meaning of “begotten of God“, and “keepeth himself“, and ask the Lord to open your eyes to the Glory, and responsibility, of the new creation.

    Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

    1 Jn. 3:6 KJV

    The Holy Ghost in 1 Jn. 3:8-9 KJV states authoritatively and unequivocally;

    He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

    (Note: The words “cannot sin” are used in the sense of not choosing to sin, rather than the absolute meaning, it’s impossible for them to sin.)

    New Creation Realities: E.W. Kenyon was the first modern evangelist to preach the revelation of the new creation in Christ. His teachings inspired F. F. Bosworth, T.L. Osborn, Kenneth Hagin, and many others.

    God has made provision for Christians who choose to sin (1 Jn. 1:9, 2:1, 5:16), but sinning is most definitely abnormal for the child of God.

    Frequently having to make use of this provision indicates something is wrong in the person’s comprehension of, and response to, their redemption.

    Some Christians fall into sin often, and readily backslide. Whatever progress they make in their walk with Christ is nullified, and they know it.

    If you are drawn to sin, and quickly succumb to temptation, here are some tips to help you discover the reason why, and how to rectify it.

    • Nominal “Christian”: Not Real Christian: Such a person is not a genuine Christian in the first place, eg. those in cults, or mere religious church-goers, etc. So they have no power to resist temptation to sin. Sin is normal behaviour for them. They even think of themselves as “sinners”. Are you a sinner, or a saint of God?
    • Half-hearted and Uncommitted: Lack of wholehearted repentance. Sincerity, true commitment, and repentance from sin separate the genuine from the false. Living free of sin is not difficult.
    • Disobedient: Living in wilful disobedience. God has told them to do something, but they have not done so. Remember the lesson of Jonah.
    • Sense Ruled: Instead of Word Ruled: Christians who follow their feelings readily backslide: Christians walk by faith: Not feelings.
    • They have man’s word: Not God’s: Wrong Word: They are listening to man’s word, rather than God’s Word: They use a modern Bible translation instead of the word of God, the KJV
    • Unfocussed and Unstable: Not paying attention to God’s Word: So they let slip the basics of redemption. Unstable Christians take their spiritual eyes, and thoughts, off Jesus, and fix them onto; family, work, world, possessions, etc.
    • Not Received The Power Baptism: Not Spirit Filled, or not staying filled with the power of God.
    • Lost First Love: Some have become complacent in a rut, and have lost the God-given first love: Rest in His Love for you always, and you will reflect it.
    • Deceived by Sin’s Pleasures: Sin’s deceitfulness ensnares the disobedient.
    • Carnal: Unholy: Their fellowship preachers give poor holiness teaching, so they accept carnality and worldliness, instead of walking in the light with integrity.

    Conclusion

    The positive way to ensure you never backslide: Rest in Christ’s love for you, and walk in fellowship with the Living Christ, listen to Him. Always do what He says you should do. Take full responsibility for your own actions and responses.

    Keep your eyes on the Way ahead (The LORD Jesus Christ), not the flowers at the side of the road, or you will be distracted and crash.

    Ask the LORD to help you walk in holiness; examine your life, activities, hobbies, home, and possessions. Clean up your walk and life in accordance with His instructions to your heart.

    Smith Wigglesworth discovered the difference between head-faith and Bible faith. One produces cosy, but dead, religion, the other dynamic miracle results. Read and discover how to really believe, and you will begin to thrill God’s Heart like Smith did: The Power of Faith.
