Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:1-5 KJV
Who, What, Why?
Have you considered why the Holy Ghost writes WHATsoever is born of God, rather than WHOsoever is born of God, since Christians are the subject here?
New Creation Equality
Some commentators point to the fact that the Greek word used for whatsoever, is the neuter masculine, to emphasise that both male and female believers are addressed here.
That would mark a clear distinction with prevailing Judaism, which remains vehemently patriarchal in nature; women not being allowed in the male-only sections of the Temple, barred from the Levitical priesthood, unequal inheritance rights, and so on.
Judaism is Occult… and a Cult
The Jewish rabbins cast a pall of male chauvinism over their perversion of God’s word, creating the demonic cult of Judaism.
It’s a shock to socialise with observant Jews, negotiating the mystical taboos of rabbinic traditions, written by the crooked finger of men in “the stone” of their Talmud.
So it’s refreshing to read the unadulterated teachings of our Creator’s Holy Spirit in the English KJV.
And in this precious passage the points are profound, simple, and clear;
- Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God
- every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
- By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
- For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
- For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
- Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
The Word of God Created Everything
The use of whatsoever, rather than whosoever, is significant in a further sense; whatsoever words are born of God ultimately overcome; the physical world, the natural senses, and they overcome all the evil spiritual forces controlling this fallen world.
Living faith in what God has written, and said, overcomes every other power.
Those who walk by their senses cannot fulfil the work of God, only those who walk by living faith in what God has revealed and written to us.
Godly Thoughts Overcome
Whatsoever ideas believers have that are born of God overcome the transient flesh world.
When your words, thoughts, and plans are truly from God (ie. born of Him) they cannot fail, it will be done as God has said, as long as you continue believing and acting on them.
Words, concepts and ideas that are not born of God inevitably fail in trials, and are destined to be reduced to ashes at the approaching Divine Judgment. 1 Peter 1:7, 2 Peter 3:10, 2 Peter 3:7 KJV
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
So in this sense WHATsoever is more appropriate than WHOsoever.
The point being that, only God’s plans, teachings, words, thoughts, and accomplishments through us can ever; prevail, bear divine fruit, and pass Final Judgment.
Let’s not squander our brief sojourn on Earth, but rather make certain what we’re doing today is of eternal value because it is God’s Perfect Will. Luke 19:13 KJV;
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
