Is The Holy Bible The Mind of Christ?
Q: I’ve been taught that in 1 Co. 2:16, the phrase …we have the mind of Christ, refers to the Holy Bible, is that right?
A: No, that’s mere human reasoning, a snare commentaries and denominations fall into.
Stop and think, and you’ll immediately perceive it cannot possibly mean that, because the Holy Bible had not even been finished when it was inspired.
When the Holy Ghost gave those words, through Paul, He was not prophesying a future time when the cannon would be complete, so Christians could point to the Holy Bible as the mind of Christ.
Most preachers teach that error today, and Father shakes His head in dismay at such spiritual ignorance.
Bible Inerrancy
The Holy Bible KJV is the perfect, inerrant written word of God, but it gives us only the merest glimpse of the mind of Christ, much as a snapshot gives us a two dimensional image of something, but is not the object itself.
To say the Bible is the mind of Christ is like holding a picture of you, and saying the photo IS you, but you’re much more than a flat image aren’t you?
So what is the Mind of Christ?
When we read God’s word we discover He tells us plainly what the mind of Christ refers to (the bolded text below); hear it in context, 1 Cor. 2:1-16 KJV;
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
That’s Clear Enough
The mind of Christ is revealed by the Spirit of God to the believer’s heart.
That’s why, when we read the written word in the Holy Ghost, our heart resonates with what we read, the Holy Spirit confirming what God has written in the Holy Bible (KJV).
It is spiritual revelation with spiritual comprehension of what God is saying to us; in His written word, in creation, and mostly, directly by His Spirit speaking to us giving us spiritual understanding.
So it always complies with God’s new covenant word, but is far more dynamic, personal, and vivid than written words on a page.
Of course it is, because it is The Spirit of The Living God communicating with us!
When God Himself speaks, you know it’s God.
Learn to; discern, trust, and obey as He communicates with you.
Know God Through His Word
The more you contemplate His written word, the more readily you’ll perceive Him speaking.
Smith Wigglesworth used to say, If I’m going to know God, it will be through His written word.
Take that as a warning against trusting in; feelings, deceptions, ideas, fantasies, dreams, and experiences.
If any thought, message, voice, or experience doesn’t align perfectly with what God has written for us in the New Covenant, then reject it: It’s not from Father God.
Is it God, or is it Me?
Well do what He’s saying, and if it falls flat, it was you, if it blesses, and works wonders, it was of God.
It’s not difficult, and Father is not a hard task-master.
Attend to the mind of Christ in your heart now, verify it complies with the New Covenant revelation of redemption in Christ, do what He’s leading you to do today, and you’ll begin to experience and enjoy real eternal life.
